From Pattaya, it's only a 45 minute drive to Si Racha, followed by another 45 minutes by ferry to the island. It's a hilly island with unique, "muscular" tuk-tuks with huge engines that help transport you up the steep hills over to the other side of the island to its only beach. While there is only one beach on the island, the water is pristine and the beach contains a powdery white sand. The island itself is very interesting - it has its own small town with a few temples high up on the hilltops. You truly get the feeling of being somewhere far away and exotic on this island. As with anywhere in Thailand, the people are friendly and helpful and as soon as you step off the ferry you will be met by many tuk-tuk drivers who are more than happy to give you a grand tour of the island by tuk-tuk before taking you to the beach.
