Pattaya Weather: Best Times of the Year to Visit

If you could go at any time of the year to visit Pattaya, choose November. The weather's cool and dry, and it's still pre-high season so it's not too chock-a-block with tourists. Pattaya is north enough in Thailand to experience quite cool weather in November, December and January, and those are the months where it's also very rare to see any rainfall.

Then you have the rainy season - April through to October. I know that the flooding has been in the news a lot lately, and even Pattaya didn't escape flooding. Flooding is actually a normal event in Thailand in the rainy season. Even 30 minutes of heavy rain can cause a local flash flood depending on where you may be. Yes, this year's floods were unprecedented, and if it is a precursor of global warming's effects, then we may see more severe floods in the future. Having said all that, the rainy season doesn't mean it rains all the time. Quite often a typical day in the rainy season means a 30 minute downpour on an otherwise sunny day, so you can still enjoy the sun in the rainy season, and of course, it's still hot! If you like a quieter experience, and lower costs, the rainy season may just be for you.

But November - it's the in-between month - well before Christmas and the high-season, and too late to be considered part of the rainy season - you can get the best of both worlds travelling to Pattaya (or indeed anywhere in Thailand) during this month!
